Mad Men's Jon Hamm is sent to negotiate with terrorists in the trailer for the period political thriller "Beirut," which also stars Gone Girl's Rosamund Pike, Breaking Bad's Dean Norris, and Boardwalk Empire's Shea Whigham.

Written by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Tony Gilroy, writer of The "Bourne" Trilogy, the film is based on real events, but tells a fictional story of a U.S. diplomat (Hamm) who is called back to war-torn Beirut in 1982, ten years after his wife was killed in a terrorist attack.

While under CIA's command, Hamm's character is instructed to act as a negotiator who must make a deal with Lebanese terrorists for the release of a recent American hostage, who just so happens to be one of his old friends.

Brad Anderson, the television director of "Fringe," "Boardwalk Empire," and "The Killing" who also helmed the thrillers "The Machinist" and "The Call," is directing the upcoming film, which is set to hit theaters on April 13th.
