So, what was the planet Krypton like before it blew up?

Syfy's new Superman-prequel series is going to explore that idea, as well as explore the family history of the House of El by focusing on the early exploits of Superman's grandfather Seg-El (played here by up-and-comer Cameron Cuffe) as he tries to restore the family's reputation long before the birth of Superman and the total destruction of their home planet.

Executive produced by screenwriter David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel, Blade), "Krypton" is the first television series to depict Superman's alien home planet set in the past, two generations before the existence of the Man of Steel. The series will show a chaotic Krypton as several Kryptonian dynasties find themselves headed toward civil war.

A newly-released trailer (watch it above) offers the first peek at Adam Strange (played by Shaun Sipos, of "Dark Matter" and "The Vampire Diaries"). He's a time-traveling comic book character who has come from modern-day Earth. He is seen with Seg-El, warning him about the imminent threat of "someone from the future" who is coming "to destroy Krypton."

Co-starring Georgina Campbell, Ian McElhinney, Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, and Aaron Pierre, "Krypton" is currently scheduled to premiere Wednesday, March 21st on Syfy.
