Godzilla: Monster Planet — Official Trailer

Netflix Japan has released the official trailer for "Godzilla: Monster Planet," a new animated kaiju epic that hails from the producers of the sci-fi anime series "Knights of Sidonia" and "Blam!"

Set in the future of 2048, the anime movie, which is a co-production between Polygon Pictures and Toho Animation, starts off when all humanity has joined together to fight in an epic war against "the largest Godzilla ever." It's a war over who gets to control Earth, which is presently ruled by kaiju monsters.

Helmed by "Knights of Sidonia" co-directors Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita, "Godzilla: Monster Planet" was released theatrically in Japan back in November but will be released worldwide on Netflix beginning next week on Wednesday, January 17th.

synopsis:
Years into the future and the human race has been defeated several times by the new ruling force of the planet: "kaijus". And the ruler of that force is Godzilla, The King of the Monsters. Humanity is in such defeat, plans to leave the planet have been made, and several people have been chosen to look at a new planet to see if it is inhabitable. Realizing it's not, though, the human race resorts to plan B: to defeat Godzilla and take back their planet.
