HBO's Mosaic — New Trailer: 'Who Killed Olivia Lake?'

added: Fri, Jan 5th '18

HBO has released another trailer for "Mosaic," director Steven Soderbergh's upcoming five-night murder-mystery thriller, which is also an interactive storytelling project in which viewers can customize their own storytelling experience through the use of a newly released app.

The limited series, which features a strong ensemble cast including Garrett Hedlund, Sharon Stone, Beau Bridges, Devin Ratray, Frederick Weller, Jennifer Ferrin, and Paul Reubens, follows a police investigation into the unsolved murder of a famed children's author named Olivia Lake (played here by Stone).

Written by Hollywood screenwriter Ed Solomon (Now You See Me, Men in Black, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure), who also developed the interactive aspect of the mystery, "Mosaic" is scheduled to premiere on Monday, January 22nd on HBO.

As of right now, viewers can download the free "Mosaic" app and start building their own storyline by combing through extensive supplementary material online.

Presented by PodOp and developed for HBO by Soderbergh and Casey Silver, in conjunction with writer Ed Solomon, the MOSAIC app is an interactive storytelling experience, available as a free download in November, that will be followed by a six-part limited series that will air on HBO in January 2018.

Three years in the making, the MOSAIC app allows viewers to choose what point-of-view from which to follow the story and to, in effect, build their own experience from the material Soderbergh and Solomon created. The choices one makes build upon one another, enabling multiple tellings of the story from different perspectives and, sometimes, with different conclusions. Viewers will be able to see how their own versions of the story on the app ultimately compare to Soderbergh's six-part linear narrative in January.
