TNT's latest original series will take viewers back in time when the concept of criminal profiling was merely an intellectual exercise.
In the upcoming mystery thriller series "The Alienist," Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War), Dakota Fanning (The Twilight Saga), and Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast) star as three unlikely sleuths -- a criminal psychologist, a police department secretary, and a newspaper illustrator -- who secretly band together as they try to use forensic science and human psychology to catch an elusive serial killer in 1896, New York City.
Executive produced by Cary Joji Fukunaga (the acclaimed director of Netflix's "Beasts of No Nation" and HBO's "True Detective: Season 1"), the limited eight-episode drama is based on Caleb Carr's best-selling suspense novel and it co-stars Brian Geraghty, Ted Levine, Douglas Smith, and Q'orianka Kilcher.
"The Alienist" is slated to premiere on Monday, January 22nd on TNT, including the network's mobile and digital platforms. Watch a new trailer, above.
synopsis:
The Alienist is an upcoming American drama television series based on the novel of same name by Caleb Carr. The psychological thriller drama is set in 1896, when a series of gruesome murders of boy prostitutes has gripped the city. Newly appointed top cop Teddy Roosevelt calls upon Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, a criminal psychologist -- aka alienist -- and newspaper illustrator John Moore to conduct the investigation in secret. Joining them in the probe is Sara Howard, a headstrong secretary at Police Headquarters.
