The Shape of Water — TV Spots

It's one of the best-reviewed movies of the year. And it revolves around a fantastical love story between a mute woman and an amphibian man, set against the backdrop of Cold War-era America.

Starring Oscar-nominated actress Sally Hawkins, Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer, two-time Oscar nominee Michael Shannon, Oscar-nominated character actor Richard Jenkins, and the uniquely gifted Doug Jones as "the asset," "The Shape of Water" is the latest from visionary Mexican-born director Guillermo del Toro, whose works include the "Hellboy" films, "Blade II," and "Pacific Rim." Although, this movie appears to be more in the vein of Del Toro's non-Hollywood efforts "Pan's Labyrinth" and "The Devil's Backbone."

Back in early September, "The Shape of Water" took home the Golden Lion Award for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival. The movie is now scheduled to open in select theaters this Friday, December 1st, with additional cities to be added on December 8th.

In the meantime, check out a couple of 30-second commercials (above), which have recently been airing on television.

From master story teller, Guillermo del Toro, comes THE SHAPE OF WATER -- an other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.
