added: Mon, Nov 20th '17

One of the most eagerly awaited films of the year will arrive in a couple of theaters this weekend for a special weeklong "Sneak Preview" run.

Paul Thomas Anderson's new 1950s fashion drama "Phantom Thread," which is reported to feature the final film performance of three-time Oscar-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis, 60, who announced his retirement from acting back in June, is going to be released in Los Angeles and New York for a limited engagement beginning on November 24th through the 30th.

Along with releasing a new 60-second trailer (watch it above), film distributor Focus Features has set up a special website for theater locations and tickets:

"Phantom Thread" stars Day-Lewis as a highly sought-after dressmaker operating in the upper echelons of the British fashion world in 1950s London. When he meets and falls for a beautiful waitress (played by German-French actress Vicky Krieps), he not only turns her into his muse but also the object of his demanding affection.

Following its sneak-preview screenings, "Phantom Thread" will be released officially on Christmas Day, Monday, December 25th.

Set in the glamour of 1950's post-war London, renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) are at the center of British fashion, dressing royalty, movie stars, heiresses, socialites, debutants and dames with the distinct style of The House of Woodcock. Women come and go through Woodcock’s life, providing the confirmed bachelor with inspiration and companionship, until he comes across a young, strong-willed woman, Alma (Vicky Krieps), who soon becomes a fixture in his life as his muse and lover. Once controlled and planned, he finds his carefully tailored life disrupted by love. With his latest film, Paul Thomas Anderson paints an illuminating portrait both of an artist on a creative journey, and the women who keep his world running. Phantom Thread is Paul Thomas Anderson’s eighth movie, and his second collaboration with Daniel Day-Lewis.
