Dwayne Johnson's back at what he does best -- saving the world from disaster! Only this time, Johnson must also save his friend, George ... a freakin' giant gorilla monster!

Check out the first official trailer for "Rampage," a big-budget action film that's based on the 1980s arcade game, in which Johnson plays a beefed-up primatologist who has rescued and raised a silverback gorilla, named George, since he was only two years old, only to see him grow up into an enormous rampaging beast.

George's abnormality was the result of a top-secret genetic experiment that also created a giant 30-foot wolf. Now the two raging creatures have freed themselves from a military detainment and are turning downtown Chicago into a war zone of smashed buildings and wrecked cars. Johnson's character must find a way to save the city, as well as try to save his friend George from being shot and killed by the army.

Directed by "San Andreas" helmer Brad Peyton and co-starring Naomie Harris (Moonlight), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Malin Akerman (Watchmen) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (TV’s The Walking Dead), "Rampage" will be hitting theaters April 13, 2018.

synopsis:
Primatologist Davis Okoye (Dwayne Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals. As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.
