Mega-producer Ryan Murphy returns with a second season of his hit Emmy-winning anthology drama "American Crime Story." This time around, the FX series is dramatizing the true-life events surrounding "The Assassination of Gianni Versace."

Check out the official trailer for the upcoming true-crime drama, which stars Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez (Joy, Gold) as the legendary Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace, who at the height of his fame in 1997 was shot dead near his Miami Beach mansion by spree-serial killer Andrew Cunanan (portrayed by "Glee" alum Darren Criss).

Penelope Cruz, in her first television role, also stars as Gianni's sister and business partner, Donatella Versace, while Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin portrays Gianni's long-term boyfriend, Italian model Antonio D'Amico.

Co-starring Max Greenfield, Finn Wittrock, Will Chase, Nico Evers-Swindell, Jose Zuniga, and Annaleigh Ashford, the ten-part series is written by acclaimed screenwriter/novelist Tom Rob Smith (Child 44, London Spy), based on Maureen Orth's 1999 investigative book "Vulgar favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the largest failed manhunt in U.S. history."

Like "The People v. O.J. Simpson," Murphy is directing the first episode of "The Assassination of Gianni Versace," which is set to debut on Wednesday, January 17 on FX.
