John Hawkes (Winter's Bone, Deadwood) plays a washed-up, alcoholic ex-cop trying to crack an unsolved homicide case in the trailer for the off-kilter detective thriller "Small Town Crime," which co-stars Blackish's Anthony Anderson, Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer, Westworld's Clifton Collins, Jr. and Jackie Brown's Robert Forster.

Written and directed by filmmaking brothers Ian Nelms and Eshom Nelms (Waffle Street, Lost on Purpose), this darkly comic neo-noir follows a booze-addicted, former detective named Mike Kendall (Hawkes) as he randomly stumbles on the dead body of a young woman and decides to solve her homicide, only to find himself embroiled in a dangerous web of treachery and lies.

Co-starring Michael Vartan, Jeremy Ratchford, James Lafferty, Dale Dickey, and Caity Lotz, "Small Town Crime," which premiered at this year's SXSW Film Festival, will be released exclusively on DirecTV December 21st before arriving in theaters and VOD on January 19th.

synopsis:
