It's the very first collaboration between Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg and Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep. And it's also Spielberg's fifth film with Oscar-winner Tom Hanks. So, guess, it's safe to say that this one is already considered as a serious Oscar contender.

Check out the first official trailer for Spielberg's Vietnam War and Watergate-era newspaper thriller "The Post," which tells the true story of "The Washington Post" publisher Katharine Graham (played by Streep), who along with her editor Ben Bradlee (played by Hanks) risked the company's reputation and faced possible criminal charges by running a major news story concerning the infamous Pentagon Papers (leaked classified U.S. government documents that exposed America's secret political-military involvement in Vietnam).

In addition to Streep and Hanks, the film boasts a stellar ensemble cast that includes Carrie Coon, Bob Odenkirk, Tracy Letts, Sarah Paulson, Bradley Whitford, Bruce Greenwood, Alison Brie, David Cross, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Zach Woods.

Written by Liz Hannah and Oscar-winning screenwriter Josh Singer (Spotlight), "The Post" is hitting select theaters on December 22nd and expands wide on January 12th.
