Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming second season of the hit Queen Elizabeth series "The Crown," starring Golden Globe winner Claire Foy.

Created by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Peter Morgan (The Queen), the series traces the early years of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, while also focusing on her tumultuous marriage to Prince Philip (played by former "Doctor Who" star Matt Smith).

While centering on the years between 1956 to 1963, Season Two will be Claire Foy's final season, as English actress Olivia Colman (from "The Night Manager" and "The Iron Lady") is expected to take over the role of Queen Elizabeth for seasons three and four, which presumably will take place in the late 1970s and 80s.

The Season Two cast also includes Michael C. Hall (Showtime's Dexter) as U.S. President John F. Kennedy; Jodi Balfour (Cinemax's Quarry) as First Lady Jackie Kennedy, and Matthew Goode (The Imitation Game) as Lord Snowden, husband of Elizabeth's younger sister, Princess Margaret (which again is played by Vanessa Kirby).

"The Crown: Season 2" premieres December 8th on Netflix.

synopsis:
