added: Mon, Nov 6th '17

While gearing up for an awards season campaign, Annapurna Pictures has released a new "for your consideration" trailer for the critically acclaimed historical drama "Detroit," which chronicles the 1967 Detroit Riots -- particularly, the racially charged murders of three African-American civilians that occurred during the riots, known as the "Algiers Motel incident."

Directed by Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow, written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Mark Boal, and produced by Oscar-nominated producer Megan Ellison (they're the same team behind "The Hurt Locker" and "Zero Dark Thirty"), "Detroit," which adopts a documentary-like style, features a strong ensemble cast led by John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Will Poulter (The Maze Runner), Anthony Mackie (Captain America: Civil War), Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton), Jack Reynor (Sing Street), and John Krasinski (13 Hours).

The movie, which earned glowing reviews, originally opened in August. But Annapurna Pictures is planning to re-release the film back in theaters across ten major cities (including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago) on Friday, December 1st.

Additionally, "Detroit" will be released on Digital HD November 28th and Blu-Ray and DVD on December 12th.

From the Academy Award winning director of THE HURT LOCKER and ZERO DARK THIRTY, DETROIT tells the gripping story of one of the darkest moments during the civil unrest that rocked Detroit in the summer of '67.
