Guy Pearce and Kylie Minogue are a couple of 1970s swingers in the newly released trailer for the Australian coming-of-age comedy "Swinging Safari," which is written and directed by "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" filmmaker Stephan Elliott.
Revolving around the dysfunctional lives of three married couples and their adolescent children, the Australian film takes place during the 1970s when bored suburban couples were known for engaging in non-monogamous activities and booze-fueled hijinks.
The cast also includes Radha Mitchell (Olympus Has Fallen), Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck), Asher Keddie (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), actor/filmmaker Jeremy Sims (Beneath Hill 60) and veteran Aussie actor Jack Thompson (Wake in Fright).
"Swinging Safari" will open in Australia on January 18th with a U.S. release sometime in 2018.
synopsis:
1970s Australia: A 200-ton blue whale washes up on a local beach and the kids think it's the biggest thing that's ever happened in their lives. Behind closed doors, the Mums and Dads of this quiet suburban cul-de-sac celebrate in their own special way, by joining the sexual revolution. It's a time of boxed wine, bad hair, bad styles, bad choices, but good times. And like the rotting whale, it's all about to go spectacularly wrong.
