Almost Friends — Trailer

Freddie Highmore is a talented actor, known for playing, shall we say, young eccentric characters. You may have seen Highmore as the young, creepy Norman Bates on the acclaimed psychological horror series "Bates Motel," which just ended its run in April. Currently, you can catch him on the hit ABC series "The Good Doctor," playing a young, gifted surgeon who, due to his autism and traumatic past, has trouble socializing with his peers.

But if you just want to see Highmore play a typical twenty-something dude with typical dating woes -- well, look no further than "Almost Friends." It's a coming-of-age dramedy about an anxiety-riddled guy (Highmore) who, while feeling unsure about his future, falls in love with a coffee shop waitress (played by Odeya Rush) who, unfortunately, already has a boyfriend.

Written and directed by indie filmmaker Jake Goldberger (Life of a King, Don McKay), the film co-stars Haley Joel Osment, Jake Abel, Rita Volk, Taylor John Smith with Marg Helgenberger and Christopher Meloni.

"Almost Friends" will be released on November 17th.

Once a promising young chef, Charlie is now an unmotivated twenty-something who lives at home with his mother and stepfather while working as an assistant manager at a movie theatre. His life takes a turn however, when he finds himself falling for local barista Amber. Problem is, she has a serious boyfriend and is planning to move to New York City. On top of that, Charlie's estranged father unexpectedly re-enters his life just as he begins to take a long, hard look at where he's going and who he wants to be.
