Get down with your funky self and check out this funk-tastic trailer for "Living on Soul," a new music documentary that chronicles the history of Brooklyn-based indie funk-and-soul revivalist label "Daptone Records," featuring footage from a memorable 2014 concert at Harlem's legendary Apollo Theater.

Filmed over three nights of a sold-out event, the docu-concert hybrid is especially poignant as it features show-stopping performances by two of Daptone's biggest stars who, sadly, are no longer with us: the late, great Grammy-nominated singer Sharon Jones and the late, great acclaimed soul vocalist Charles Bradley.

Directed by documentary filmmakers Cory Bailey and Jeff Broadway (Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton), "Living on Soul" will be hitting VOD on December 5th.

synopsis:
Living On Soul documents a three-night residency at the Apollo Theater by Brooklyn-based Daptone Records' artists Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Charles Bradley, Antibalas and more. Not since James Brown in the '70s has a multi-night residency at the Apollo been held.

In addition to six-camera, 4K coverage of these dynamic live performances, the film also interweaves scene-based conversations with different Daptone artists to tell bits of anecdotal history about the label, the artists who comprise it, and the long road many of them have shared to this iconic Harlem stage.
