Josh Duhamel (Transformers) investigates rap music's most infamous murders in the first trailer for USA Network's forthcoming true-crime miniseries "Unsolved: The Murders Of Tupac & the Notorious B.I.G."

From Emmy-winning producer and director Anthony Hemingway (The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story), "Unsolved" is a limited series based on the investigative book "Murder Rap: The Untold Story of Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations" penned by former LAPD Detective Greg Kading (who is portrayed in the drama by Duhamel).

The 10-part series, in which the pilot episode is directed by Hemingway and written by Kyle Long (Suits), offers a glimpse into the dual police investigations of the 1996 and 1997 murders of two of rap's most beloved stars: Tupac Shakur (played by Straight Outta Compton's Marcc Rose) and Biggie Smalls (newcomer Wavyy Jonez).

Among those playing police detectives are Jimmi Simpson (Westworld), Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), Jamie McShane (Bloodline), and Brent Sexton (The Killing). While Luke James (Black Nativity) is cast as Sean "Puffy" Combs and Aisha Hinds (Underground) as Biggie Smalls's mother Voletta Wallace.

"Unsolved" will premiere in early 2018.

synopsis:
UNSOLVED: THE MURDERS OF TUPAC AND THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G. chronicles the two major police investigations into the still-unsolved murders of rappers Tupac Shakur (Marcc Rose) and Christopher Wallace (Wavyy Jonez). The true-crime drama series follows LAPD Detectives Russell Poole (Jimmi Simpson) and Greg Kading (Josh Duhamel) as they work the cases nearly ten years apart, and sheds new light on the demise of Tupac and Biggie Smalls’ friendship that ultimately led to the legendary East Coast vs. West Coast hip hop rivalry. Twenty years after the tragic deaths of two of rap’s biggest stars, UNSOLVED goes behind the headlines in pursuit of the truth surrounding these infamous murders.
