Acclaimed filmmaker Steven Soderbergh wants to give you a "new storytelling experience" -- and he's going to make it happen with HBO's help.

Soderbergh and HBO have released the first trailer for "Mosaic," an interactive scripted series project in which viewers can choose their own path.

Starring Sharon Stone, Garrett Hedlund, Jennifer Ferrin, Beau Bridges, Paul Reubens, Frederick Weller, Devin Ratray, and more, "Mosaic" is a limited mystery crime series directed by Soderbergh (Traffic, Behind the Candelabra) and written by Ed Solomon (Now You See Me, Men in Black), which will premiere on HBO in early 2018.

"Mosaic" is also an interactive app that allows users to "go deeper" into the "Mosaic" story by offering the option to select from multiple point-of-views and click on character discoveries. It's a live-action narrative that you can navigate yourself -- much like those old-school choose-your-own-adventure books.

"Mosaic" will be available soon in the app store while the limited series is set to air in January on HBO.

synopsis:
Presented by PodOp and developed for HBO by Soderbergh and Casey Silver, in conjunction with writer Ed Solomon, the MOSAIC app is an interactive storytelling experience, available as a free download in November, that will be followed by a six-part limited series that will air on HBO in January 2018.

Three years in the making, the MOSAIC app allows viewers to choose what point-of-view from which to follow the story and to, in effect, build their own experience from the material Soderbergh and Solomon created. The choices one makes build upon one another, enabling multiple tellings of the story from different perspectives and, sometimes, with different conclusions. Viewers will be able to see how their own versions of the story on the app ultimately compare to Soderbergh's six-part linear narrative in January.
