Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman play a couple of '70s punk misfits in the international trailer for the British coming-of-age fable "How to Talk to Girls at Parties."

Based on the 2006 genre-bending short story by renowned comic book and fantasy writer Neil Gaiman, the film takes place in 1970s London and follows a budding romance between a punk teen and an alien girl.

Tony Award-winning Broadway star Alex Sharp (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) plays Enn, an English punk rock enthusiast who meets an enigmatic girl named Zan (Fanning ) at a house party. After introducing Zan to the local punk rock scene, Enn realizes that she is an extraterrestrial traveler from another galaxy. Oooh, so very punk rock!

Kidman delivers a supporting turn as punk rock manager/den mother Queen Boadicea. Other supporting cast members include English comedian Matt Lucas and "The Affair" actress Ruth Wilson.

"Hedwig and the Angry Inch" star-and-filmmaker John Cameron Mitchell, who hasn't helmed a film since 2010's "Rabbit Hole," directs the punk-rock/alien romp, which is currently scheduled to play this week at the London Film Festival.
