Drake Doremus, the filmmaker behind the acclaimed films "Like Crazy" and "Breathe In," isn't steering away from his infatuation with modern-day relationships.

For his latest romantic drama "Newness," Doremus once again examines the limits of human intimacy, this time demonstrating the emotional cost of being in an open relationship.

The film stars English actor Nicholas Hoult (from the "X-Men" films and "Mad Max: Fury Road") as a single twenty-something living in Los Angeles who, through a Tinder-like dating app, meets and falls in love with a sexy woman from Barcelona (played by Spanish actress Laia Costa; star of the acclaimed one-take German crime drama "Victoria").

At first, their relationship goes smoothly. But then she flirts with the idea of having an open relationship. He goes along for the ride until the ride suddenly reaches a fork in their relationship, where they find themselves facing an ultimatum.

Written by Doremus' screenwriting collaborator Ben York Jones and co-starring Danny Huston, Pom Klementieff, Matthew Gray Gubler, Courtney Eaton, Jessica Henwick, and musician Albert Hammond Jr., "Newness" premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. The movie will be released exclusively on Apple iTunes on November 3rd, with a standard VOD release to follow.
