Horror novelist Stephen King may have just celebrated his 70th birthday this week. But no one would fault him if he celebrated the whole month after the recent box-office success of "IT."

Well, if you're a fan of King's horror stories, you should be happy to know that there are plenty of projects currently in development. Two of which are coming out on Netflix in the next couple of weeks. One is the kinky sex game thriller "Gerald's Game" (out on Sept. 29) and the other one is this -- for which the streaming company has just released a trailer.

"1922" is a period thriller based on a novella by King, in which Thomas Jane (The Mist, The Punisher) plays a nasty Nebraska farmer who, after murdering his wife and burying her body, discovers his beloved house is being taken over by a swarm of hungry rats.

Written and directed by Australian filmmaker Zak Hilditch (These Final Hours), the Netflix film also stars Molly Parker (HBO's Deadwood), Dylan Schmid (Hulu's Shut Eye), Brian d'Arcy James (Spotlight) with Kaitlyn Bernard and Neal McDonough (CW's Arrow, FX's Justified).

"1922" is scheduled to premiere October 20th, only on Netflix.

synopsis:
1922 is based on Stephen King's 131-page story telling of a man's confession of his wife's murder. The tale is told from from the perspective of Wilfred James, the story's unreliable narrator who admits to killing his wife, Arlette, with his son in Nebraska. But after he buries her body, he finds himself terrorized by rats and, as his life begins to unravel, becomes convinced his wife is haunting him.
