When the home owner's away, the rabbit will play.

Check out the first trailer for "Peter Rabbit," a CGI/live-action hybrid comedy that offers a modern-day take on Beatrix Potter's classic children's stories about a mischievous, anthropomorphic rabbit who wears a blue jacket but no pants.

Late night TV host James Corden provides the voice of the title character, while Domhnall Gleeson (from "Ex Machina" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens") portrays Peter's human adversary, Mr. McGregor.

Will Gluck, the director of the hit comedies "Easy A" and "Friends with Benefits" and who recently wrote and directed the musical remake "Annie," directs the forthcoming family film from a script he co-authored with Rob Lieber (TV's The Goldbergs).

In addition to Corden and Gleeson, the cast also includes Rose Byrne and Sam Neill while Margot Robbie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Elizabeth Debicki, and Force Awakens' Daisy Ridley are lending their voices as the bunnies: Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail.

"Peter Rabbit" is due to arrive in theaters early next year, beginning February 9th.

synopsis:
Peter Rabbit, the mischievous and adventurous hero who has captivated generations of readers, now takes on the starring role of his own irreverent, contemporary comedy with attitude. In the film, Peter's feud with Mr. McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson) escalates to greater heights than ever before as they rival for the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door (Rose Byrne). James Corden voices the character of Peter with playful spirit and wild charm, with Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki, and Daisy Ridley performing the voice roles of the triplets, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail.
