Amazon Studios has released the official full trailer for "Wonderstruck," the latest feature from acclaimed filmmaker Todd Haynes, of "Carol" and "Far from Heaven" fame.

Based on the best-selling illustrated children's novel by award-winning illustrator and writer Brian Selznick (The Invention of Hugo Cabret), who also wrote the adapted screenplay, "Wonderstruck" is a dream-like period drama that tells the parallel stories of two lonely 12-year-olds, Ben and Rose (played by "Pete's Dragon" star Oakes Fegley and deaf actress Millicent Simmonds), who suffer from the same hearing affliction, though are living in two different time periods: 1977 Gunflint, Minnesota and 1927 Hoboken, New Jersey.

Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams appear in supporting roles.

After earning mostly positive reviews at this year's Cannes Film Festival, "Wonderstruck," which was acquired by Amazon Studios with theatrical distribution to be handled by Roadside Attractions, will open in select theaters on October 20 with a VOD release to follow.

synopsis:
Based on Brian Selznick's critically acclaimed novel Ben and Rose are children from two different eras who secretly wish their lives were different. Ben longs for the father he has never known, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. When Ben discovers a puzzling clue in his home and Rose reads an enticing headline in the newspaper, both children set out on quests to find what they are missing that unfold with mesmerizing symmetry.
