Martial-arts icon Donnie Yen (Rogue One, Ip Man) shares the screen with Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau (The Great Wall, Infernal Affairs) in the Hong Kong crime thriller "Chasing the Dragon," for which a U.S. trailer has been released.

Loosely based on the rise and fall of notorious Hong Kong drug kingpin Ng Shek-ho, the 1963-set actioner casts Donnie Yen as "Crippled Ho," a lowly Chinese immigrant who, after sneaking into British-colonized Hong Kong, rises up through the underworld and becomes one of the most feared crime bosses in Hong Kong's history.

Andy Lau, meanwhile, portrays celebrated Hong Kong detective "Lee Rock" -- a real-life lawman character that Lau has played before in two hit Chinese crime films from the early '90s.

Directed and written by prolific Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Jin (The Last Tycoon, God of Gamblers) and co-directed by cinematographer Jason Kwan, "Chasing the Dragon" opens in select U.S. cities next week, beginning September 29th.

synopsis:
Donnie Yen stars as infamous real-life drug kingpin Crippled Ho, who came to Hong Kong an illegal immigrant in 1963 and ruthlessly carved an empire from the chaotic underworld of drug dealers and corrupt police that ruled the city under notorious detective Lee Rock (Andy Lau).
