Blade Runner 2049 — Prequel Short: '2048: Nowhere To Run'

The second of a planned three-part series of sci-fi shorts has just arrived online promoting the release of "Blade Runner 2049." This latest prequel short titled "2048: Nowhere To Run" is helmed by Ridley Scott's son Luke Scott ("Morgan") and centers on Dave Bautista's character Sapper.

Introducing the short is "2049" helmer Denis Villeneuve which takes place a year before his feature film's timeline. The prequel begins with Dave Bautista playing an outlaw replicant with a heart of gold named Sapper, who enters the streets of Los Angeles 2048 to sell some small replicant leeches to a much bigger leech. But when some street thugs threaten his friends, a child, and her mother, Sapper loses control and releases the inner beast within -- and at the same time exposing himself out as a replicant.

"Blade Runner 2049," which stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, is still set to open wide on October 6th.

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
