Benedict Cumberbatch experiences a parent's worst fear in the trailer for the upcoming British television movie "The Child in Time."

Based on the acclaimed 1987 novel by "Atonement" writer Ian McEwan, the drama casts Cumberbatch as a children's author who, one day after a routine visit to the supermarket, realizes his three-year old daughter has suddenly gone missing -- never to be seen again. As a consequence, the painful event forever changes his life and relationship with his loving wife (played by acclaimed Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald; from HBO's Boardwalk Empire, No Country for Old Men, and Trainspotting).

Directed by Emmy-nominated TV helmer Julian Farino (HBO's Entourage and Ballers), "The Child in Time" co-stars Stephen Campbell Moore, Saskia Reeves, and Gehane Strehler. The TV movie will premiere later in the year in the U.K. on BBC One. It will also air in the U.S. on PBS in 2018.
