Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig can't resist the chance to live a little (and we do mean "little") in the new official trailer for "Downsizing."

In this science fiction-tinged dramedy, which is set in the not-too-distant future where scientists have remedied the world's overpopulation problem by developing a breakthrough procedure that shrinks humans down to size, Damon and Wiig play an ordinary married couple who make the momentous decision to shrink themselves down to five inches tall in order to spend the rest of their lives in a luxurious community for miniaturized people.

The film, which also stars Jason Sudeikis, two-time Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz, and Hong Chau (from HBO's "Big Little Lies") with appearances by Neil Patrick Harris, Laura Dern, Niecy Nash, Margo Martindale, and Rolf Lassgard, comes from Alexander Payne, the director of "The Descendants" and "Sideways."

Also written by Payne and his longtime writing and Oscar-winning partner Jim Taylor, "Downsizing" just premiered a week ago to mostly positive reviews at the Venice Film Festival. The movie will officially open in theaters near Christmas, beginning Friday, December 22nd.
