"Beauty and the Beast" star Dan Stevens portrays legendary 19th-century English author Charles Dickens in the first official trailer for the light-hearted period drama "The Man Who Invented Christmas."

Also starring Oscar-winner Christopher Plummer as the famed literary character Ebenezer Scrooge whose catchphrase "humbug" became an iconic Christmastime expression, the film tells the story of how a then-struggling novelist Charles Dickens (Stevens) wrote what would eventually become the greatest Christmas tale of all-time: 1843's "A Christmas Carol."

Directed by British-Indian director Bharat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Tsunami: The Aftermath) and co-starring Morfydd Clark, Miriam Margolyes, and Jonathan Pryce, the film is based on the book by Les Standiford.

"The Man Who Invented Christmas" is hitting theaters November 22nd.
