added: Wed, Aug 30th '17

A newly released 30-second spot provides the first peek at filmmaker Alexander Payne's latest movie "Downsizing," which stars Matt Damon as an ordinary married man who considers the idea of being shrunk down to five inches tall after scientists invent a breakthrough process for shrinking humans to miniature size due to the world's overpopulation problem.

Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau (from HBO's "Big Little Lies"), and former SNL cast members Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudeikis also star in this science fiction-tinged dramedy, which is written by Payne and his longtime writing and Oscar-winning partner Jim Taylor (Sideways, The Descendants, About Schmidt, Election, Citizen Ruth).

"Downsizing" will make its world premiere in a couple of weeks at both the Venice Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival. The movie will officially open in theaters on December 22nd. Meanwhile, a "full-sized" trailer is expected to be released online on Sept. 12th.

When scientists discover how to shrink humans to five inches tall as a solution to over-population, Paul (Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to abandon their stressed lives in order to get small and move to a new downsized community -- a choice that triggers life-changing adventures.
