"The Hateful Eight" and "Twin Peaks" actor Tim Roth investigates a murder and finds it's connected to a shady Canadian oil company in the trailer for "Tin Star," the new detective thriller series for Amazon Studios.

Also starring Mad Men's Christina Hendricks as a dubious corporate spokeswoman, the ten-part drama takes place in the Rocky Mountains of Canada where a big and powerful oil company has taken over control of a small Canadian town. But when the town suddenly experiences a crime surge, it's up to the new police chief, former London police detective Jim Worth (Roth), to get to the bottom of things -- the problem is, the criminals appear to be the ones in power.

Created by British filmmaker Rowan Joffe (Before I Go to Sleep, Brighton Rock), who also writes and directs the pilot episode, "Tin Star" co-stars Genevieve O'Reilly (aka Mon Mothma from "Rogue One"), Christopher Heyerdahl (AMC's Hell on Wheels), and Abigail Lawrie (BBC's The Casual Vacancy).

The series is set to premiere in the U.S. on Amazon Prime beginning Friday, September 29th. It will also air in September in the U.K. on the Sky Atlantic network.

synopsis:
Set in the majestic Canadian Rockies, Tin Star tells the story of a former British detective who brings his family to the tiny, tranquil town of Little Big Bear for a better life.
