Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston, and Laurence Fishburne play old military buddies who reunite after 30 years for an emotional road trip to Arlington Cemetery in the newly released trailer for Richard Linklater's new dramedy "Last Flag Flying."

Based on Darryl Ponicsan's novel of the same name (a sequel to his 1970 best-seller "The Last Detail," which itself became a well-known movie with Jack Nicholson), "Last Flag Flying" sees Steve Carell as a grieving father and veteran who enlists the help of his old military friends (Cranston and Fishburne) to drive to Arlington Cemetery and retrieve the body of his son, who was killed in the Iraq War.

Directed by Linklater and adapted for the screen by Linklater and Ponicsan, "Last Flag Flying" will premiere next month as the opening film of the 2017 New York Film Festival. It will then be released in theaters on November 3rd (via Amazon Studios).

synopsis:
In 2003, 30 years after they served together in the Vietnam War, former Navy Corps medic Larry "Doc" Shepherd (Steve Carell) re-unites with ex-Marine Sal Nealon (Bryan Cranston) and Reverend Richard Mueller (Laurence Fishburne) on a different type of mission: to bury Doc's son, a young Marine killed in the Iraq War. Doc decides to forgo burial at Arlington Cemetery and, with the help of his old buddies, takes the casket on a bittersweet trip up the East Coast to his home in suburban New Hampshire. Along the way, Doc, Sal and Mueller reminisce and come to terms with shared memories of the war that continues to shape their lives.
