A deadly home invasion, an unsolved murder, an ominous mob threat, a pill-crushing Julianne Moore, a coffee-sipping Oscar Isaac, and Matt Damon as a suburban dad about to lose his shit. Yup, it's an upcoming black comedy by George Clooney, who directs from a screenplay that was partly written by Joel and Ethan Coen.

Check out the debut trailer for "Suburbicon," a 1959-set darkly comic crime noir in which Damon reunites with his "Ocean's Eleven" buddy for their seventh movie together.

Here, Damon stars as Gardner Lodge, a family man whose quiet suburban life is jolted off its perch by a violent home invasion. The unhappy incident, which resulted in his wife being murdered, has made Gardner into an angry, paranoid man. But it appears his situation could have been avoided if he had just paid his debts to his mob-connected loan shark.

Co-starring Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac, the film was originally conceived by the Coen Brothers, who wrote the screenplay. However, rewrites were done by Clooney and his longtime writing and producing partner Grant Heslov.

"Suburbicon" (it's Clooney's sixth directorial feature effort, but his first time directing a film where he doesn't also appear in the cast) will open in theaters on October 27th.

synopsis:
Suburbicon is a peaceful, idyllic suburban community with affordable homes and manicured lawns... the perfect place to raise a family, and in the summer of 1959, the Lodge family is doing just that. But the tranquil surface masks a disturbing reality, as husband and father Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) must navigate the town's dark underbelly of betrayal, deceit, and violence. This is a tale of very flawed people making very bad choices. This is Suburbicon.
