At this year's Sundance Film Festival, writer-director Eliza Hittman (It Felt Like Love) took home a Directing Award for "Beach Rats," the visually atmospheric gay-teen drama starring newcomer Harris Dickinson as a tank-top-wearing Brooklyn hoodlum exploring his sexuality and his secret relationships with older men over the course of a fateful summer.

The film has been praised for its dream-like quality and Hittman's visual choices that appear to be influenced by classic European films. And since premiering at Sundance, the movie has been generating strong word-of-mouth.

"Beach Rats" co-stars Madeline Weinstein and Kate Hodge and will be opening in select theaters on August 25th.
