"The Villainess" is a female assassin/revenge thriller from South Korean action filmmaker Jung Byung-gil (Confession of Murder), and stars Kim Ok-bin (from Park Chan-wook's vampire thriller "Thirst") as a woman raised to be a cold-blooded assassin by the mafia, but has now been blackmailed into working for the government as a sleeper agent.

Loosely described as the Korean version of Luc Besson's 1990 classic "La femme Nikita," the adrenaline-fueled thriller also appears to borrows certain revenge elements from "Kill Bill," "John Wick" and "Lady Snowblood" judging by the newly-released trailer, watch it above.

"The Villainess" premiered to positive reviews at this year's Cannes. It also just screened a week ago at both Fantasia and the New York Asian Film Festival.

Co-starring Shin Ha-Kyun and Bang Sung-jun, the action movie is due to open in the States later in the summer on August 25th.
