Netflix has released the official trailer for "Atypical," the new coming-of-age series starring Keir Gilchrist (It Follows, The United States of Tara) as a high-functioning autistic teen navigating through the awkward formalities of high school while trying to find both love and his independence.

Jennifer Jason Leigh (Hateful Eight) and Michael Rapaport (FX's Justified) also star as the parents while newcomer Brigette Lundy-Paine (The Glass Castle) plays the sister.

Created by sitcom producer-writer Robia Rashid (The Goldbergs, How I Met Your Mother), the cast also includes Amy Okuda (How to Get Away with Murder), Nik Dodani, Graham Rogers (Quantico), and Jenna Boyd.

Seth Gordon, director of "Baywatch" and "Horrible Bosses," helms the opening episode of the Netflix series, which is due to be released on Friday, August 11th.

The coming of age story follows Sam (played by Keir Gilchrist), an 18-year-old on the autistic spectrum on his search for love and independence. His funny yet painful journey of self-discovery upends his entire family, forcing them all to grapple with change in their own lives as they all struggle with the central theme: what does it really mean to be normal?
