Check out the official trailer for "Birth of the Dragon," a dramatized depiction of Bruce Lee's early life as a rising Kung Fu star who taught his own unique style of martial arts to a mostly Caucasian American crowd in 1960s San Francisco.

Hong Kong action star and action choreographer Philip Ng takes on the role as a young Bruce Lee, while American actor Billy Magnussen (who portrayed Kato Kaelin in the acclaimed FX series "The People v. O.J. Simpson") plays Steve McKee, a fictional character loosely based on actor Steve McQueen, who in real-life was one of Lee's first Kung Fu students.

The movie, directed by George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau), is mostly focusing on the legendary rivalry between Bruce Lee and Shaolin master Wong Jack Man (played by Chinese actor Xia Yu) who was sent from China to stop the young martial artist from teaching Kung Fu to Americans. The feud concluded with a well-known no-holds-barred showdown, though details about the private fight have always left plenty of room for interpretation.

Co-starring Jin Xing, Qu Jingjing, Terry Chen and Ron Yuan, "Birth of the Dragon" will be released in U.S. theaters on August 25th.
