Jason Bateman puts himself and his entire family in severe jeopardy in the new full-length trailer for the Netflix crime series "Ozark."

Created by "The Accountant" scribe Bill Dubuque and film producer Mark Williams, "Ozark" follows a suburban family as they relocate from the suburbs of Chicago to a remote mountainous area of the Missouri Ozarks.

As the drama unwinds, it becomes clear that the reason for the sudden move is that financial analyst Marty Byrde (Bateman) has been secretly working for a ruthless Mexican drug cartel as one of their chief money launderers and is now a wanted man by both the Feds and the cartel's murderous leader (Esai Morales).

Marty's wife (Laura Linney) eventually finds out about the situation, as do his two teenage children (Sofia Hublitz and Skylar Gaertner). But Marty can only selfishly hope that his family will be on his side when the shit inevitably hits the fan.

Bateman is serving as an executive producer on the series for which he also directs the pilot episode.

Co-starring Julia Garner (FX's The Americans, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For), Peter Mullan (Cinemax's Quarry), Jordana Spiro (TBS' My Boys) and McKinley Belcher III (PBS' Mercy Street), "Ozark" debuts on Netflix on Friday, July 21st.

synopsis:
The Byrdes, husband and wife Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy (Laura Linney), their teenage kids Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) and Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) -- are for all intents and purposes an ordinary family.
