90-year-old character actor Harry Dean Stanton gets a chance to truly shine in the new indie dramedy "Lucky," playing an aging, eccentric character that's not too dissimilar from himself. You can say, it's the role he was undoubtedly born to play: a 90-year-old desert-town cowboy who smokes, sings, loves turtles, thinks for himself and does yoga on a daily basis.

"Lucky" marks the directorial debut of acclaimed character actor John Carroll Lynch, of "Zodiac," "Fargo" and "American Horror Story" fame.

The film also features an impressive supporting cast that includes the likes of David Lynch, Ron Livingston, Barry Shabaka Henley, Beth Grant, Yvonne Huff Lee, Ed Begley Jr. and Tom Skerritt.

"Lucky" will open in theaters on September 29th. Watch the trailer, above.

synopsis:
LUCKY follows the spiritual journey of a 90-year-old atheist and the quirky characters that inhabit his off the map desert town. Having out lived and out smoked all of his contemporaries, the fiercely independent Lucky finds himself at the precipice of life, thrust into a journey of self exploration, leading towards that which is so often unattainable: enlightenment. Acclaimed character actor John Carroll Lynch's directorial debut, "Lucky", is at once a love letter to the life and career of Harry Dean Stanton as well as a meditation on mortality, loneliness, spirituality, and human connection.
