Check out a new international trailer for "Patti Cakes," the crowd-pleasing hip-hop movie that made a huge splash at Sundance this year.

Featuring a star-making performance by 25-year-old Australian actress Danielle Macdonald as an aspiring New Jersey rapper who dreams of hitting it big, the film hails from New Jersey-born commercial and music video director Geremy Jasper.

The cast also includes newcomer Siddharth Dhananjay as Patti's best friend and her biggest fan; cabaret singer/comedienne Bridget Everett (from "Inside Amy Schumer" and "Trainwreck") as Patti's not-so-passive-aggressive mother; Mamoudou Athie (from Netflix's "The Get Down") as Patti's eccentric-looking music producer; and veteran New York actress Cathy Moriarty (of "Raging Bull" fame) as Patti's ailing, wheelchair-bound grandma.

Described as a cross between "8 Mile" and "Hustle & Flow," "Patti Cakes" will be hitting theaters on August 18th.
