Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, "Step" is an inspirational documentary that chronicles the final year of high school for a group of Baltimore teen girls who have worked hard to build a formidable step dance team. As they set their sights for college, the girls enter their graduation year with the goal of winning the step championship.

Directed by Tony-winning Broadway producer and first-time documentary filmmaker Amanda Lipitz (creator of the MTV series "Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search for Elle Woods"), "Step" has earned rave reviews on the festival circuit.

Acquired by Fox Searchlight since premiering at Sundance this year, "Step" is now slated for a theatrical release on August 4th. Watch a newly released trailer, above.

STEP documents the senior year of a girls' high-school step dance team against the background of inner-city Baltimore. As each one tries to become the first in their families to attend college, the girls strive to make their dancing a success against the backdrop of social unrest in the troubled city.
