The Last Face — U.S. Trailer

Check out the newly released U.S. trailer for "The Last Face," the Sean Penn-directed romantic melodrama starring Charlize Theron as an international relief worker who falls deeply in love with a humanitarian doctor (played by Javier Bardem) while working in war-torn Liberia.

The film was widely panned by critics when it premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. The fact that Penn and Theron were an A-list Hollywood couple during the filming of the movie but had ended their relationship at the time of its French premiere only provided more fodder for detractors and gossip hounds. Well ... C'est la vie!

Co-starring French superstar Jean Reno and French actress Adele Exarchopoulos (star of "Blue Is the Warmest Color"), "The Last Face" will be released exclusively on DirecTV (through their On-Demand service), before hitting theaters and other VOD platforms on July 28th.

The Last Face centers around a love affair between Dr. Miguel Leon (Academy Award winner, Javier Bardem), a relief-aid doctor, and Dr. Wren Petersen (Academy Award winner, Charlize Theron), the director of an international aid organization.

Set against the devastating backdrop of war-torn Liberia, Miguel and Wren must find a way to keep their relationship alive in extraordinarily difficult conditions battling their mutual passion for the value of life matched by the intensity of their diametrically opposed opinions on how best to solve the conflict that surrounds them.
