Strange Weather — Trailer

Academy Award-winner Holly Hunter embarks on an emotional road trip across the Deep South in the newly-released trailer for "Strange Weather," an indie drama that also stars The Leftovers' Carrie Coon, Sons of Anarchy's Kim Coates, and the late character actress Glenne Headly.

Here, Hunter plays a grief-stricken mother who launches a personal investigation into the death of her son, retracing his final steps as she tries to get to the truth of his suicide.

The film, which also co-stars American Crime's Shane Jacobsen, is written and directed by Katherine Dieckmann, a former music video director known for helming videos for REM (Shiny Happy People, Stand) and who has also directed the Paul Rudd and Ken Marino dramedy "Diggers" and wrote and directed the Uma Thurman-starrer "Motherhood."

"Strange Weather" is scheduled to hit theaters and iTunes/VOD on July 28th.

Darcy Baylor (Holly Hunter) is an academic administrator at a Mississippi college, but another round of budget cuts puts her job -- like nearly everything in her life -- in limbo. Her son Walker committed suicide seven years ago, and the only constants in Darcy's life since then have been her gardening and her best friend, Byrd (Carrie Coon). Shortly after her worrying workplace news, Darcy learns that Walker's old college pal Mark (Shane Jacobsen) is now the owner of a successful restaurant chain -- a chain whose concept, down to the last detail, was stolen from her son. Darcy immediately packs her bag, gets in her truck, picks up Byrd, and sets out for New Orleans to confront Mark and settle the score.
