"I think it's kinda fun to play a character thirty years later," says Harrison Ford in a newly released featurette for the highly anticipated and long-awaited science-fiction sequel "Blade Runner 2049," which will take place 30 years after the original film.

"I'm used to trying on old clothes ... happily, they still fit," laughs Ford, who reprises his iconic role as now-reclusive ex-replicant hunter Rick Deckard.

The upcoming film, stylishly helmed by acclaimed French-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario) and executive produced by Ridley Scott (who directed the 1982 original), isn't necessarily centering on Deckard -- although he plays an important part in the movie. Instead, the sci-fi drama will follow a new "blade runner" detective played by Ryan Gosling, who apparently jumped at the chance to work with the legendary 79-year-old filmmaker.

"When I heard Ridley [Scott] was continuing the [Blade Runner] narrative, I was already invested," says Gosling in the above clip. "I already wanted to know what happens next."

Oscar-winner Jared Leto co-stars in the movie, playing a mysterious character (possibly a replicant?) named "Wallace." Leto also appears in the behind-the-scenes preview, expressing his gratitude "to be on the team" that includes renowned cinematographer Roger Deakins, Oscar-winning production designer Dennis Gassner, art director Paul Inglis, and Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor John Nelson.

Co-starring Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Lennie James, Dave Bautista and Robin Wright, "Blade Runner 2049" will open in theaters on October 6th. Meanwhile, the original movie celebrates its 35th anniversary this Sunday, June 25th.
