Lily Collins (star of "The Mortal Instruments" and "Rules Don't Apply" and the daughter of singer Phil Collins) delivers a career-defining performance as a young pencil-thin woman with a severe eating disorder who joins an unconventional treatment program in the new Netflix movie "To The Bone," for which a trailer has been released.

Marking the feature directorial debut of Emmy-nominated producer/writer Marti Noxon (UnREAL, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), "To The Bone" is said to be loosely based on Noxon's own struggles with anorexia, as well as Collins' who recently made her struggles known in a tell-all book.

The film follows a 20-year-old anorexic woman named Ellen (played by Collins, who dropped a shocking amount of weight for the role) as she bounces from one treatment program to the next until she is finally sent to a group home for troubled youths, which is run by an unorthodox doctor (played by Keanu Reeves). Once there, Ellen is able to form meaningful relationships with other young people struggling with similar afflictions.

In addition to Collins and Reeves, the cast also includes Carrie Preston (True Blood), Tony-winning actor Alex Sharp (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time), Liana Liberato (If I Stay), Lili Taylor (American Crime), and Brooke Smith (Bates Motel).

"To The Bone" premiered to positive reviews at this year's Sundance Film Festival. It's now slated for a Netflix release beginning Friday, July 14th.

synopsis:
Ellen (Lily Collins) is an unruly, 20-year-old anorexic girl who spent the better part of her teenage years being shepherded through various recovery programs, only to find herself several pounds lighter every time. Determined to find a solution, her dysfunctional family agrees to send her to a group home for youths, which is led by a non-traditional doctor (Keanu Reeves). Surprised by the unusual rules -- and charmed by her fellow patients -- Ellen has to discover for herself how to confront her addiction and attempt self-acceptance, in order to stand a chance against her demons.
