Some Freaks — Trailer

In this romantic coming-of-age, teen-angst drama, "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" star Thomas Mann plays a one-eyed social outcast named Matt, who, during his senior year of high school, falls hopelessly in love with a plus-size misfit named Jill -- played by newcomer Lily Mae Harrington (from "Pee-wee's Big Holiday").

On the surface, Matt and Jill seem like the perfect fit for each other. But their relationship is tested when Jill chooses to attend college out of state, temporarily leaving Matt to wallow in his misery alone.

Co-starring Ely Henry (from "Suburgatory") and Marin Ireland (Amazon's "Sneaky Pete"), "Some Freaks" is the feature film debut of playwright Ian MacAllister McDonald.

The film is receiving a theatrical release on August 4th. In the meantime, you can watch the trailer, above.

The film follows one-eyed high school senior Matt (Thomas Mann) who meets plus size Jill (Lily Mae Harrington) and falls more in love than he ever thought possible. However, when graduation comes and Jill moves cross-country to go to college, she undergoes a major physical transformation - much to Matt's surprise when he arrives to visit her. While Matt struggles to accept Jill's new look, Jill begins to question whether Matt is really the man she thought she knew. As the distance widens between them, the characters are forced to confront who they are, who they were, and who everyone thinks they're supposed to be.
