The Campaign — Political Ad (Vote for Cam / Vote for Marty)

added: Sun, May 6th '12

Viewers of Sunday's airing of Comedy Central's pseudo talk show, "Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis'" were treated with this 2 minute and 30 second faux political ad featuring Galifianakis and Will Ferrell. Although it's not the official trailer, the commercial (which aired right before The Comedy Awards) is the first look at their upcoming film "The Campaign." In the comedy, Galifianakis plays a small town family man who runs against a veteran politician (Will Ferrell) for a congressional seat in a small North Carolina district election. Directed by Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet the Parents), the film also stars Jason Sudeikis and Dylan McDermott. "Campaign" is set to hit theaters on August 10th.

When long-term congressman Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain influence over their North Carolina district. Their man: naive Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis), director of the local Tourism Center. At first, Marty appears to be the unlikeliest possible choice but, with the help of his new benefactors' support, a cutthroat campaign manager and his family's political connections, he soon becomes a contender who gives the charismatic Cam plenty to worry about.
