Brigsby Bear — Trailer

added: Tue, Jun 13th '17

During his summer break from Saturday Night Live, comedian Kyle Mooney will be taking a psychedelic trip to the big screen with "Brigsby Bear," a quirky deadpan comedy about a pop-culture-obsessed manchild (Mooney) who sets out to recreate and complete the final season of a bizarre children's television show that featured a giant teddy bear character.

Roughly described as "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" meets "Be Kind Rewind," the indie film also stars pop-culture icon and "Star Wars" actor Mark Hamill and Jane Adams (Hung, Twin Peaks) as Mooney's overly protective father and mother -- though, keep in mind that they may not be who they say they are.

The cast also includes Homeland's Claire Danes, former SNL member Michaela Watkins, Veep's Matt Walsh, Ryan Simpkins, and Greg Kinnear.

Produced in part by Lonely Island (Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone) along with filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie), "Brigsby Bear" was co-written by Mooney and newcomer Kevin Costello and directed by Mooney's childhood friend and SNL writing partner Dave McCary (this is his feature directorial debut).

The movie premiered to strong reviews at this year's Sundance Film Festival. It's now scheduled to open in select theaters on July 28th. Watch the trailer, above.
