While some people are high on life, Ellen Page and her friends are getting high on death -- one minute at a time.

Check out the trailer for "Flatliners," the upcoming modern-day remake of the 1990 thriller, which follows an adventurous group of medical students as they experiment with near-death experiences (they each deliberately stop their hearts for a minute period), only to have things get out of hand when they begin to suffer some serious side effects.

Page leads the ensemble cast, which includes Diego Luna (Rogue One), James Norton (Black Mirror), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), and Kiersey Clemons (Dope).

The film is penned by "Source Code" scribe Ben Ripley and helmed by Danish director Niels Arden Oplev, whose directing credits include the 2009 Swedish version of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and the pilot episode of the acclaimed hacker series "Mr. Robot."

"Flatliners" is currently slated for a September 29th theatrical release.

synopsis:
In Flatliners, five medical students, obsessed by the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring and dangerous experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience -- giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife. But as their experiments become increasingly dangerous, they are each haunted by the sins of their pasts, brought on by the paranormal consequences of trespassing to the other side.
