An abandoned campsite appears to bear the marks of a terrifying tragedy in the newly released trailer for the Australian survival thriller "Killing Ground."

Writer-director Damien Power makes an auspicious debut with this edge-of-your-seat horror, which has earned solid critical praise from critics at this year's Sundance.

Starring Aaron Pedersen (Mystery Road), Harriet Dyer (Love Child), Ian Meadows (Rake), and Aaron Glenane (Drift), the film tells the story of an Australian couple who, while camping in a remote part of rural Australia, stumble across a deserted campsite that later reveals itself to be the scene of a horrific assault as told through a series of nail-biting flashbacks.

"Killing Ground" arrives in theaters and on VOD July 21st.

synopsis:
A couple's romantic camping trip becomes a desperate fight for survival in this ultra-raw, unhinged kill ride. In need of a break from the pressures of their life in the city, Sam (Harriet Dyer) and Ian (Ian Meadows) head to a remote beach for a weekend getaway. When they come across an abandoned campsite, with no trace of its occupants, they’re concerned. When they discover a lone, traumatized child nearby, they’re scared. And when they encounter two local sociopaths (Aaron Glenane, Aaron Pederson), they’re in for a hell of a bad time. Weaving with unexpected twists and turns, Killing Ground delivers both nerve-shredding suspense and gut-punching realism.
