With his acclaimed 1991 feature film debut "Boyz n the Hood," filmmaker John Singleton depicted the harsh realities of living in South Central Los Angeles. 26 years later and Singleton is returning to those same L.A. neighborhoods -- but this time, it's for a television drama that will be chronicling the violent rise of the crack cocaine epidemic in the early 1980s.

Check out the official trailer for Singleton's upcoming ten-episode FX series "Snowfall," in which several characters -- a novice drug dealer (Damson Idris), a Mexican wrestler (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), a rogue CIA agent (Carter Hudson), and the daughter of a Mexican crime lord (Emily Rios) -- find themselves enmeshed in the Los Angeles drug trade.

Co-created and executive produced by Singleton alongside Eric Amadio and Dave Andron (Justified), the series is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 5th on FX.
